With 9 Presses and over 40 employees in a 20,000 square foot facility, Overnight Labels, Inc. is now an award winning manufacturer. Today, Overnight Labels produces custom-printed shrink sleeves, neck bands, flexible film for pouches and stick packs, peel-back & piggyback labels, IRC coupons, confectionary wrappers, clam shell inserts, pressure sensitive and non pressure-sensitive labels, rotary silkscreen & cold foil.     John Holmes, Industry Segment Manager for the Food, Beverage & Packaging Industries for Festo Corp., located in Hauppauge, NY, has 21 years experience in the field of industrial automation, much of that spent directly in the food and beverage industry. His responsibilities are to build upon the company’s presence in the food and beverage markets, work with product management on new product concepts and develop the lead sales strategy for reaching Festo’s long-term growth goals within this industry segment. Holmes joined Festo in 1994 as a sales engineer and has held several management positions during his career. Over the years, Holmes has helped customers implement innovative solutions to increase productivity. These solutions have included pneumatic, servo-pneumatic and electromechanical devices used in factory automation applications. Throughout his career, Holmes has been actively involved in many key applications within the food and packaging industries and his diverse background offers a unique perspective and enhances his ability to provide solutions in this segment. Prior to working with Festo, Holmes was a product specialist and application engineer for United Manufacturing Systems. UMS was a key supplier of assembly equipment, inspection and conveyor systems. Much of this project work was done directly for automotive tier 1 companies and DOD projects. United Manufacturing Systems was a systems integrator for many companies using overhead power and free conveyor systems for daily production. Holmes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is an active member of PMMI.

    Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI)
    Robert Budway is president of the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), the national trade association representing the can manufacturing industry and its suppliers. Budway started with CMI in 1986, became its president in 1995 and is responsible for all legislative, regulatory, sustainability and legal issues for CMI. In his 25 years with CMI, he has formulated and coordinated policy; promoted the industry’s goals to congressional offices and committees; represented association members before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other federal and state agencies; and worked to influence rule development and/or compliance. He is also involved in industry efforts to formulate marketing programs for food and beverage cans on behalf of CMI’s members. Prior to joining CMI, Budway served with the professional staff of the House Ways and Means Committee, from 1985 to 1986, during the debate on the Tax Reform Act of 1986. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University in International Relations and History. He was awarded a law degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. He is a member of the Virginia and Hawaii Bar associations.
